A friend of mine, Shawn and I were talking about picture books I translated from Japanese into English and we've got some concepts of some Japanese words signifying "excrement" to be reconciled. I decided to put it in a table, hoping that he would come up with better words for my translation of the books. ;)
I am sharing it here in case someone wants me to share in future
Note: The equivalents, contexts and notes in the table are wholly depending on my own humble sense.
As to curse words, I've got this feeling that popular Japanese terms of abuse to swear at human-beings are likely to be with excrement-related words, while English/American terms are with sexual words. Wouldn't it be one of the reasons why Japanese have deep antipathy to defecated stuffs? Just a thought of the day of mine for today. :)
It is really hard for me to translate but our great variety of onomatopoeia and mimetic words are making great contribution to the vocabulary indicating it. Will try to make time in near future for introducing it.
